Frequently Asked Questions

How do I fly?

Hold anywhere on the screen to rise — the longer you hold, the more you climb, but gravity is always pulling back. Let go to glide down gently, which is how you make delicate landings on collectibles. Hold the dive control to commit to a plunge.

A dive is deliberate, not a free "down" button — it builds real downward momentum that takes time and altitude to arrest. Diving heavy, close to the ground, is how most runs end.

Why can't my bird climb anymore?

Because it's carrying too much. Weight is the whole game. Every item you pick up makes you heavier, and your altitude ceiling is a function of your load. Lean birds fly high into the clouds and space; heavy birds skim the terrain.

To get lift back, drop an item — you'll feel the climb immediately. If you're about to hit the ground, use drop everything as a panic button. Flying and fighting also burn calories over time, so a heavy bird slims down naturally if it survives long enough.

My bird got fat. Is that a bug?

Nope — that's the design. Food heals you at first, but overfeeding fattens and bloats your bird. The body is the status bar: there's no meter to read, you just look at your bird. Fat and low is a legitimate playstyle (greedy, more points on the ground) — it's just a different one from lean and high.

How do I attack? I can't find the button.

There isn't one. Fighting back is automatic on contact with whatever weapon you're currently equipped with. Your job is to pick up the right kind of weapon for the threats ahead and then fly into them, not to aim and tap.

I picked something up and can't carry any more.

You have a carry limit, and at capacity nothing auto-swaps — you have to drop something to make room. That's intentional: choosing what to give up is part of the decision, especially when the thing you'd drop is also the thing keeping you low enough to reach the good stuff.

What ads should I expect?

Nothing at all for your first 7 days — the game is completely ad-free while the trial runs.

After that, a short full-screen ad may appear between runs, when you tap Retry from the game-over screen. These are frequency-capped, so they don't show up every single time. The one-time Remove Ads in-app purchase turns them off permanently.

Rewarded ads are always opt-in. If you crash on a good run, the game-over screen offers a Continue button: watch a short ad and your flight carries on from where you went down, instead of ending. It's offered at most once per run, you're never required to take it, and it stays available even after you buy Remove Ads. We never interrupt a flight in progress with an unskippable ad.

How do I restore my "Remove Ads" purchase on a new device?

Open Swooping Birds and look at the bird-select screen (the one where you choose your bird). Tap Restore in the bottom-right corner. Make sure you're signed into the same Apple ID you used for the original purchase — Apple will sync the entitlement and ads will turn off again.

If restore doesn't work, email us with your purchase date and Apple receipt and we'll help sort it out.

How do I request a refund?

All payments are processed by Apple, so refunds go through Apple too. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple ID, find the Swooping Birds purchase, and follow Apple's refund flow. We don't directly handle billing and can't process refunds on Apple's behalf.

The game is crashing or behaving strangely. What do I do?

First, the usual suspects: make sure iOS and Swooping Birds are both up to date, restart the app, and if needed restart your device. Most odd behavior clears up with an update.

If it persists, please email us with:

I lost my high score / progress!

Swooping Birds stores your best score locally on your device, so deleting and reinstalling the app may not preserve it. We're considering optional iCloud sync for scores in a future update. In the meantime, sorry — consider it a reason to fly it again.

Which birds can I play as?

Swooping Birds shares its flock with the other Tech Artists games, so you'll recognize the cast from Bird Blitz and Dropping Birds. You pick your bird before each flight from the species select screen. More of the flock gets added as the art is finished.

I have a feature idea or feedback.

We'd love to hear it — and pre-launch is the best possible time to send it. Email techartists.support@gmail.com. As a small operation, not every idea will make it into the game, but every email is read and considered.
